"In essence, yoga is a practice of service to humanity,"says Mark Lilly, the founder of Street Yoga, a nonprofit that teaches yoga to at-risk youth and their families in Portland, Oregon.
WHO YOU'RE HELPING
In Waterloo, all proceeds (and we mean ALL) go directly to HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre. HopeSpring is a jewel in the Kitchener-Waterloo community offering services and programs to those with cancer. HopeSpring receives no funding from the government or The Canadian Cancer Society. It relies solely on donations from the community. As one HopeSpring client eloquently said, "HopeSpring was a bright point in a dark time in my life." This is what community does - we light up the dark for one another. In Surrey, the funds will all go to SOS Children's Village. SOS Children's Village BC is a local non-profit organization that as been serving foster children and vulnerable youth for the paste 25 years in British Columbia. They are part of the International SOS Children's Village organization, operating the only Canadian village with five large family homes located on 2.5 park like acres in Surrey, B.C. They operate a variety of village and community outreach programs including after-school Homework Club, Sounds of Learning Music Program, Therapy Services, Camps an more. SOS BC stands for an environment where home, hope and healing are present. They believe in finding solutions in the best interests of local kids who are hurting. They strengthen families. http://www.sosbc.org/ |
